Today’s Halloween is going to be different and weird, no doubt.
Here are a couple of ‘treats’ for you to have a look at, so that nobody can say that we have not done any Halloween-related activities this 2020 October 😉
- You surely have read about all this before but, if you feel like brushing up your knowledge, see this interesting post about The Origins of Halloween
- This lovely Halloween song for kids can help you revise and learn some ‘spooky’ vocabulary
- And… This 31st October is special for one reason: tonight here will be a Blue Moon. A blue moon only happens on Halloween approximately every 19 years! So don’t forget to have a look at the sky at night and check if the colour of the moon is a little bit more bluish than usual. And remember the English idiom «once in a blue moon«: a blue moon Samhain certainly only happens ‘once in a blue moon’.
- Here is the wonderful song Blue Moon’ you must have heard a lot of times before. This is the original version by Al Bowlly, from 1936.
These are the lyrics:
Blue moon you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for
And then there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper «Please adore me»
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold!
Blue moon!
Now I’m no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Enjoy a quiet Samhain night!
