LISTENING
♦  From OPEN WORLD: in class we’ve been seeing the introduction to Real World: Zurich (p.26). Do listening exercises 3 &4 (p.27). Check your answers and try to remember usual expressions such as «be under the weather» or «come down with (an illness)«.

♦  A RECIPE for a YUMMY FRUIT CAKE (this exercise was part of last week’s homework; also on Teams): gerund/infinitive practice; gap-filling exercise you have probably already done on Teams. Here you can find the pdf version to download and check the full script.

GRAMMAR
♦  LINKING WORDS OF CONTRAST (pdf):  read the explanations and examples attentively. Next week we’ll be doing some exercises to practise these particular connectors in class. Study the rules thoroughly so that you can use the linkers with no hesitation.

♦  From Learn English. British Council. How to use in spite of/despite – although/even though/though + online exercises.

USE OF ENGLISH
♦  An email to the local government (pdf)+key: complete the blanks in this email about the topic of  ‘Children’s health’. Apart from having to identify the right connectors, the exercise also serves as practice for future email writing!
