GRAMMAR REFERENCE UNIT 4, p.212: COUNTABLE and UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS.

Read the grammar explanations carefully and do the accompanying exercises.
# Note that there is a misprint under the heading ‘Some uncountable nouns in English’: news and paper must be separate words (newspaper is a countable noun!)

CORE VOCABULARY: TRAVELLING  Can you use the words travel, trip and journey accurately? Here is an exercise to learn and practise the difference between them in context.    Travelling

Teaching Young Learners  and Eight different situations. Do these final exercises in unit 3, both of which deal with the topic of education.

– Monday & Tuesday half-groups/Those of you who didn’t attend school on Wed17-Thu18:  If you have time, do the listening exercise on page 49 (exercises 4/5/6, tracks 023/024) and check your answers. Pay special attention to the agreement expressions in the conversations.

Here is the homework to do before next class.

>  READING and VOCABULARY:
Read the article about four teenagers who attend different kinds of schools, answer the reading comprehension questions and do the two vocabulary exercises about Education in the UK and The English school system.

>  LISTENING:  Listen to five people talking about their memories of school and match the speakers to what they say about those days.

>  LISTENING FOR GIST -NO EXERCISES:  Studying at a British University. Listen to the recording again while following the text given in class. The glossary can help you understand the meaning of difficult vocabulary.
If you have not got the text -or not yet- you can still listen and try to pick up key words and main ideas, even if you cannot understand every single phrase or sentence.
