Week 22-25 March (assignments to do before next lesson 5-8 April)

Welcome to this week’s new post. Here are the tasks I would like you to do.

> Complaint writing & Use of English exercise:
This is the gap-filling exercise we are doing and correcting in class the present week. Read it carefully if you are not attending your weekly lesson at the school, in order to practise complaint vocabulary and some other language points we have been seeing in the last few months:

REMEMBER that we will be doing a writing in class Monday 5th to 8th April. If for any reason you could not attend your usual group, you can join one of the other groups -let me know in advance if possible.
PLEASE, revise the resources I have given you and prepare for the exam! This mark will be part of 2nd term writing global assessment.

> INTRODUCTION to Open World Unit 5, Grab some culture (VIDEO ACTIVITY).
Read about the plot of the film Yesterday, directed by Danny Boyle, and then watch the scene and do an easy exercise with the lyrics of the two songs you will hear.

> LISTENING from Open World Unit 5, p.68, Listening part 3, ex.3 (audio 033).
 Listen to three short extracts about the benefits of listening to music and match speakers and experiences. Check your answers againt the key.

> READING from Open World Unit 5, p.69: Going to the movies
Read the article, focus on the vocabulary you do not know and the words in bold, and then answer the multiple choice questions in exercise 4. Use the key to check your answers.

> GRAMMAR: Past Perfect Simple and Continuous
–  From Open World Unit 5:
Read the explanations and then do the exercises that you will find in the Grammar Reference section pp.214-5.

You are going to hear three people talking about musical genres. Listen and complete the chart.

Read a newspaper article about a day in the life of a person in the film industry, and learn related vocabulary such as «leading/supporting actor«, «stunt man/woman«, etc.
