How to make work-life balance work

How does Spain compare to other countries regarding work-life balance? Do some research online to comment in class.

Watch the video below and be ready to summarise the main ideas and say whether you agree with the speaker.

Short stories

Read and listen to the three stories that you can access by clicking on the picture below. After the holidays you will have to explain what story is your favourite, what characters you like the most/least, how difficult it was to read/understand them…

I hope you enjoy them.

Organ shortage crisis

I have found a lot of information online about xenotransplants and 3D printing. I shared some in class with you, but it’s impossible to go through all the activities. I leave some of them here so that you can do them on your own.

If, apart from watching the TED videos, you want to do the activities, you need to register (with just an email address and password, you’ll be done).

  1. TED video activity on how to print human tissue.

2. TED video activity on  how to print a human kidney.

3. TED talk: the future of organ transplantation

C1 Christmas calendar

It’s time to enjoy and relax, but also to practise English in a more informal way. Enjoy the holidays as much as you can and remember to come back on the 10th of January.
I hope you find the activities below entertaining. There’s one for each day. Don’t do them all on the same day. Remember: learning a language is not a sprint, but a marathon.

Keep the conversation going

When having a conversation, either in English or in any other language, we use words or make sounds to make the other person know we are ‘in’ the conversation. Those words and sounds are known as conversation fillers in English. They are also useful when you hesitate and need some time to think about what to say.

If you want to learn some conversation fillers and how to use them, watch the video below.

Crimes and offences

Watch the video to learn some vocabulary about crime and criminals.

Do the exercise below: read the description, think about the name of the crime and turn the card round to see whether you were right in your guesses.
