Jane Austen: 250th anniversary

In 2025, we have been commemorating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen‘s birth. To honour her legacy, she was chosen as the central figure of  Women Writers’ Day celebration on October 13th at our school.  4th year ESO students from the habLE program designed the poster that decorated the school for this special occasion.

Then, after having read Emma and Pride and Prejudice,  they have imagined what would have happened if Jane Austen had lived in times of social media…

Roald Dahl’s Day

There’s no better way to start a new school year than diving into the magical world of Roald Dahl!

Our 2ESO students celebrated Roald Dahl Day by reading Matilda, taking creative photos with their favorite Dahl books from home, and even designing new book covers for some of his most famous stories.

It was a fun and inspiring way to honor one of the world’s most beloved storytellers — and to remind ourselves that reading can always spark imagination and joy!

Remembrance Day

In Flanders fields, the poppies blow

between the crosses, row by row

First World War ended on November, 11th, 1918, when  the Armistice was signed. The poppy’s origin as a symbol of remembrance lies in the devastated landscapes after the war. This flower, which flourished up in this soil ravaged by the fighting, provided Canadian lieutenant John Mc Crae inspiration for his poem In Flanders Fields.

Remembrance Day (Poppy Day) and WWI poetry is a project by 4ESO students from the habLE program.

Discovering the mysterious legends of Oviedo on Halloween

Discovering the Mysterious Legends of Oviedo: A Project in 2nd Year of ESO

In our 2nd A and C ESO class, we embarked on a unique journey through the streets of Oviedo, exploring the city’s most enigmatic corners through its legends. Over the course of this project, my students became genuine tour guides, each leading us through a different route filled with mystery. They created PowerPoint presentations that narrated these fascinating stories, and we shared all their work on a Padlet board we created in class.

I invite everyone to visit our Padlet and discover, through my students’ eyes, the most mysterious and legendary side of Oviedo. I hope you enjoy these legends as much as we enjoyed creating this project!

Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi

(link to the presentation)

Persepolis the renown  autobiograhical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, has been analysed by our 4ESO students.

The book depicts the author’s childhood and early adult years and  tells what the Iranian revolution was like and how it affected women’s rights. But… would the novel have been different if it had been written nowadays? And if it had been set in Europe in the 2020s?

Activity to honour this French-Iranian graphic novelist, film director, illustrator, Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 2024.
