Jane Austen: 250th anniversary

In 2025, we have been commemorating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen‘s birth. To honour her legacy, she was chosen as the central figure of  Women Writers’ Day celebration on October 13th at our school.  4th year ESO students from the habLE program designed the poster that decorated the school for this special occasion.

Then, after having read Emma and Pride and Prejudice,  they have imagined what would have happened if Jane Austen had lived in times of social media…

Roald Dahl’s Day

There’s no better way to start a new school year than diving into the magical world of Roald Dahl!

Our 2ESO students celebrated Roald Dahl Day by reading Matilda, taking creative photos with their favorite Dahl books from home, and even designing new book covers for some of his most famous stories.

It was a fun and inspiring way to honor one of the world’s most beloved storytellers — and to remind ourselves that reading can always spark imagination and joy!

The Day of the Libraries and the Black Butterflies

In 1992,  during the Balkans War, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in Sarajevo, was targeted and intentionally set on fire. It was burning during several days. As thousands of books were reduced to ashes, millions of written words in small pieces of paper were floating through the hellish air that covered the streets of the city. According to the

locals, they looked like “black butterflies”.

Every 24th of October, the International Day of Libraries commemorates this tragic loss for the cultural and intellectual heritage of the country.

Our students have paid homage to this cultural genocide filling the walls and doors of our school with black butterflies.
